The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation provides scholarships and grants to students in grades seven through college. Their goal is “to help exceptionally promising students reach their full potential through education”. The Foundation focuses on students in financial need whose parental income is $95,000 or less. They administer the following programs: Young Scholars, College Scholarship Program, Undergrad Transfer Scholarships, and the Young Artist Award.
- Young Scholars-provides support services for 7th -12th graders to help high achieving low-income students excel in high school and college. Students apply in 7th grade, enter the program in 8th grade and continue support services through high school. The program opens February 8, 2024, and closes on May 9, 2024.
- College Scholarship Program-provides up to $55,000 a year to graduating high school students attending a 4-year college. Students must have a 3.5 GPA. Standardized test scores are not required. The application period is August -November each year.
- Undergrad Transfer Scholarship-provides scholarships to outstanding community college students who are transferring to a 4-year college or university. It will pay up to $55,000 for 2-3 years. The application period is from early October to mid-January. Applicants must have sophomore status or have graduated within the last 5 years with 3.5 or higher GPA.
- Young Artist Award-This program is for exceptional students with financial need. Twenty awardees are selected each year for grants up to $10,000 for instrument purchase, summer camps, private lessons and audition travel expenses for ages 8-18. Students aged 18 must be enrolled in high school during the application period. Application deadlines for 2024-2025 season are: April 15, 2024, September 2, 2024, November 15, 2024.
