Have You Reviewed Your FAFSA Submission Summary?

It is very important for students and their families to review their FAFSA Submission Summary.  Ideally, this should be done approximately three days after you submit the FAFSA or when you receive confirmation that your FAFSA has successfully been submitted.   This is an extremely important step for the following reasons:

Identifying Errors and Verifying Information

  • If errors are found, you can make corrections that determine the appropriate amount of aid you will receive.

The Summary Provides an Overview of Financial Aid Eligibility

  • The summary will give your Student Aid Index, your eligibility for the Pell Grant and the offer of a $5500 federal loan. This information will help families determine affordability. The Student Aid Index is used by schools to determine how much aid a student is eligible for.  If you see an asterisk* next to your student aid index number, that means your application has been selected for verification.  This means that the financial aid office is requesting additional information from you.  Note:  If you do not submit the requested information, your financial aid award letter will be delayed.

School Information

  • Students can also review important data about the schools they listed on the FAFSA, such as graduation rates and costs. This allows students to make more informed decisions.

If you want the maximum aid for the college you plan to attend, it is important for students and their families to empower themselves by reviewing this summary and responding appropriately.
