I had a memorable visit to Elon University as a part of their Counselor Fly-In program. The school is in Elon, North Carolina between Greensboro and Burlington. I did not know a lot about the university and after spending 3 days on the campus I was pleasantly surprised.
It is a medium-sized private university with approximately 7,000 undergraduate students. The U.S. News and World Report has ranked them for the past 3 years #1 for faculty teaching excellence. They recently established a new satellite campus in Charlotte, NC focusing on Law and Sports Management. Other satellite programs are located in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. They also have a law campus in Greensboro, NC. Their law program was recently ranked #4 by PreLaw Magazine’s “Best Schools for Practical Training”.
The University has a 79% graduation rate, 11-1 student to faculty ratio and an average class size of 20. The cost of attendance is approximately $63,000. The following are the reasons I was impressed with the school:
- Highly ranked study abroad and global engagement programs.
- Numerous institutional and departmental scholarships available to students based on merit, need, and talent.
- Direct admit Nursing program.
- The focus on student relationships, engagement and experiential learning.
- Collaborative environment of faculty and staff.
- The students I interacted with were “happy” and loved their school.
They definitely have a lot to offer.
