Are you ready for college? College isn’t for everyone. I’m sure you have known students who returned home from college after the first semester or after the first year? What happened? Some may have had to leave due to financial reasons but far too many leave because they just were not ready. They went into college not having the proper skills or mindset to succeed in college.
You may not be ready for college if you:
- Have poor study habits.
- Don’t like to read.
- Lack good writing skills.
- View college as a place to “party”.
- Have a problem asking for help.
- Have difficulty getting along with others.
- Have poor time management skills.
- Have difficulty getting out of bed to get to class on time.
- Have a GPA below 2.0
- Have low test scores.
- Just interested in getting away from your parents.
- Don’t like to take notes.
- Not self-motivated.
- Lack organizational skills.
- Have difficulty staying on task.
- Lack self-discipline.
- Don’t have a plan to finance your education.
- Haven’t explored the following questions: Who am I, Where am I going, How will I get there?
- Have difficulty saying “no”.
