- Sign up and complete a scholarship profile for a minimum of 3 scholarship search engines.
There are many scholarship search engine sites on the web. I recommend Fastweb, Scholarships.com and Cappex to get started. Remember to update your profile when your activities and credentials change.
- Bookmark scholarships that you feel you have a 90% chance of obtaining and that match your academics, talent, volunteer and career interests.
You can get a scholarship for almost anything these days. Look for scholarships that match your interests and are unique to you. To find scholarships that are unique to you and your situation, do a Google search.
- Set up a calendar of deadline dates with dates scheduled 2 weeks before the actual due date- remember Murphy’s Law.
Do not wait until the last-minute to send a scholarship. Make sure you have your letters of recommendation, transcripts and any other requested documents before the deadline date. Check out my blog post Tools of the Trade-Scholarship Readiness Tips
